Hello, my name is Shin Nishida, and I’m the director of Tumble Kids.
It’s a pleasure to meet you!
Let me begin with a little story—I’ve spent the past 15 years teaching gymnastics and running a gymnastics school in Jamaica, the tropical Caribbean nation famously home to the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt. (And yes, I’m still actively involved there!)
My journey in Jamaica began after graduating university, when I joined the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers as a gymnastics instructor. I was drawn to the country’s rich natural beauty and its relaxed, warm-hearted people. It truly is a wonderful place—but not without its challenges.
Approximately 40% of the population lives in poverty, and the homicide rate is 264 times higher than Japan’s (as of 2017). Jamaica also ranks among the highest globally for incidents of sexual violence and abduction. It’s a country of striking contrasts—resort-like beauty alongside deep social hardship.
It was this reality that inspired me to take action. I wanted to do something for the children living in difficult conditions, and I believed that gymnastics—a sport that builds both body and spirit—could help support their healthy development. That’s how our Jamaican program began.
This mission—to nurture children’s growth through the power of gymnastics—is the same whether in Jamaica or Japan, whether a child comes from a low-income neighborhood or a more privileged background. Our lessons are cheerful and fun, and we focus on recognizing each child’s strengths and helping them grow, both in gymnastics and in English.
Just as we’ve done in Jamaica, our team here in Kyoto is committed to creating a space where children can thrive. We’ll continue working hard to support their healthy development through movement, language, and joyful learning.

Hello all!
Never give up! You can do it!
Hello everyone!
My name is Azuma Komako. I live in Mie Prefecture and am the proud mother of three daughters.
Let me start by saying that I absolutely love gymnastics! I originally began gymnastics simply to improve my fitness, but I soon discovered how exciting it was to challenge myself with movements and skills I had never tried before. The feeling of accomplishment when I finally master a new skill is truly amazing. That excitement keeps me motivated, and even now as a mother, I continue to train regularly and participate in the annual Masters Gymnastics Championships.
At Tumble Kids, I hope to help children experience many moments of “I did it!” Gymnastics is not only about building strength and physical ability. It also helps children develop confidence in themselves and encourages them to think about how they can improve and overcome challenges. Learning a new skill can be scary and difficult for everyone at first. But if you keep practicing step by step, you will get there. Never give up. You can do it!
By the way, my whole family loves gymnastics so much that we even have a mini gymnastics gym at home, complete with a horizontal bar, vaulting box, trampoline, and other equipment! (Haha!)
Of course, I also love English. In the past, I worked as a train conductor in Osaka because I wanted a career involving English. I made English announcements and assisted passengers at stations and on trains. I especially love the sound and rhythm of the English language.
Both gymnastics and English are lifelong passions for me, and I am always striving to improve. I look forward to learning, growing, and working hard together with all the students at Tumble Kids. I will support you with enthusiasm and dedication every step of the way.
I can’t wait to meet you all!
Hello everyone!
Hello everyone! Nice to meet you!! I was born in Singapore and grew up in Kyoto and Shiga, Japan. During university, I studied abroad as an exchange student at a university in Virginia, USA, where I focused on education and developmental psychology, subjects that had long interested me.
When I first arrived at university in the United States, there were many times when I could not fully understand my classes, and I often felt discouraged. I imagine that many children at Tumble Kids may also find it difficult to understand their coaches’ English at first. However, I firmly believe that anyone can learn English with time, patience, and practice. Through their experiences at Tumble Kids, I hope children will discover the joy of gradually understanding more and more, transforming uncertainty into confidence.
After returning to Japan, I obtained my teaching license and worked as an English teacher until 2019. I have taught at both public junior high schools and private junior and senior high schools.
Through my teaching experience, I have developed a keen ability to notice even small changes in a child’s feelings and to understand what kind of encouragement or support they need at a given moment. Of course, children are not always having a good day. During difficult moments, it is important for them to first recognize and understand their own feelings and situations. I hope to support each child’s emotional growth while helping them develop at their own pace.
When I became a parent, I made the difficult decision to leave teaching in order to focus on raising my family. Later, when my oldest son entered first grade, I was fortunate to be introduced to Tumble Kids.
Now that I am a mother myself, I truly understand the joys and challenges of raising children. Every day brings new experiences and questions, and parenting does not always go according to plan. Because of this, I deeply empathize with the hopes, concerns, and feelings that parents have for their children.
At Tumble Kids, my highest priority is safety. I believe that the joy and excitement of gymnastics can only flourish in a safe and supportive environment. That is why I am committed to ensuring that every child can learn and grow with confidence.
My goal is to help children enjoy gymnastics while developing both physically and emotionally. I will do my very best to support each child so they can grow not only as gymnasts, but also as confident and capable individuals.
I look forward to meeting and working with you all!
Hello! My name is Jamin, and I’m excited to be here in Japan, coming to you from my home in Jamaica!
My life has always revolved around gymnastics. I spent 15 years as a competitive athlete and was honored to be part of the Jamaican National Team. Much of my early passion for the sport was fostered during my club days under my head coach, Coach Nishida. We had such positive experiences, especially with the fun gymnastics games and challenges—those are the kind of memorable moments I am eager to recreate with the children here!
I bring valuable coaching experience from both sides of the world. I spent time coaching at Nishida’s Gymnastics in Jamaica and later coached the boys’ program at GeForce Gymnastics in the U.S. After a period away, I realized how much I missed the gym and the satisfaction of seeing children progress. This feeling brought me back, and I’ve happily been working with Nishida’s Gymnastics again for the past year.
I’m truly excited about this opportunity to work with you, experience the wonderful culture of Japan, and form meaningful connections.
My main goal is simple: to make learning both English and gymnastics a positive and enjoyable experience. I want every child to feel comfortable, knowing that making mistakes is a natural and necessary part of how we learn and grow. I look forward to celebrating their progress and teaching them this important lesson: as long as you keep trying, you absolutely will improve.
Thank you so much for the warm welcome!

Hello! I’m Coach Jerik from the Philippines.
I am currently a student at Kyoto University, studying Energy Science, and I joined Tumble Kids in April 2025. Back in the Philippines, I gained many valuable experiences as a volunteer teacher for children, which helped me discover how rewarding it is to support kids in their learning and growth.
Outside of my studies, I enjoy sports such as volleyball, badminton, and table tennis, as well as hobbies like gaming and café hopping. I also love experiencing different cultures—I have participated in different international conferences abroad, which showed me the importance of global connection and learning from others.
I believe that in sports—and really in anything—experiencing the journey of turning “I can’t” into “I can” is incredibly important. When I first started coaching gymnastics, I wasn’t used to it at all. But thanks to the support of my fellow coaches and continued effort, I was able to grow little by little.
This experience helps me encourage children to believe in themselves and keep trying, no matter where they start. As a student myself who is also learning Japanese, I can relate to the kids’ journey in learning English and gymnastics—step by step, with patience and fun.
Through my classes, I want to help children grow not only physically but also mentally, building confidence, resilience, and teamwork along the way. I’m very excited to learn and grow together with the Tumble Kids family!

Hello everyone! My name is Aniyah, and I’m from Florida, USA! Ever since I was 15, I’ve dreamed of living in Japan, and I’m so happy I was able to make that dream come true! I’m currently studying International Affairs at Temple University in Kyoto.
When I first arrived in Japan, everything was new and challenging. However, this experience taught me that even when something seems difficult or unfamiliar, you can accomplish it if you keep trying and stay positive.
Outside of school and work, I love traveling to different countries, learning about different cultures and languages, visiting restaurants, and trying new foods. My favorite sport is swimming! I also have about five years of experience working with children I was a part time teacher, English tutor and camp counselor. Through these experiences, I have worked with children of different ages and personalities, helping them learn, and feel more confident. I enjoy creating a fun and supportive environment where children feel comfortable expressing themselves, and trying new things. Working with children has taught me the importance of patience, encouragement, and celebrating every child’s individual progress.
At Tumble Kids, I hope to help children build confidence, and have fun while learning English and gymnastics. I want to encourage them to challenge themselves while making sure they feel supported and proud of their accomplishments. I want to help each child enjoy learning new skills and recognize their own self improvement. So I want to remind children that it is okay to make mistakes and that progress comes from continuing to try. I’m excited to be part of the Tumble Kids family!

Hello! Nice to meet you!
I’m Coach Michael, and I’m from New York in the United States!
I’m currently studying abroad in Japan, and I have the amazing opportunity to live in Kyoto. Moving to Japan has been a really exciting experience for me because I get to experience a different culture, meet new people, and try new things. I’m really happy to be living in Japan, and I’m looking forward to making more great memories while I’m here!
In my free time, I enjoy listening to music and playing the guitar. Music has always been something I enjoy because it’s a great way to relax, express myself, and have fun. I also enjoy exploring new places, spending time with friends, and experiencing new things. I think it’s important to keep learning and trying new activities because there is always something new to discover!
I’ve been working with children for about two and a half years, and I’ve really enjoyed the experience. Working with kids has taught me the importance of being patient, supportive, and understanding that every child is different. I enjoy getting to know their personalities, helping them learn new things, and seeing them become more confident in themselves. I think working with children is a rewarding experience because you get to see them grow and develop over time.
At Tumble Kids, I want to help children have a fun and positive experience while learning new skills. I believe that physical activities are a great way for kids to develop confidence, improve their coordination, and learn how to challenge themselves. I also think it’s important for children to feel comfortable trying new things, even when something seems difficult at first.
As a coach, I want to create an environment where every child feels encouraged and supported. I want my students to understand that they don’t have to be perfect at everything right away. Making mistakes is a normal part of learning, and what matters most is continuing to try your best. I want to celebrate their progress, encourage them when they face challenges, and help them feel proud of what they accomplish.
One of the things I enjoy most about working with children is seeing their excitement when they learn something new or reach a goal they’ve been working toward. Even small achievements can make a big difference in a child’s confidence. I want to help create those moments for my students and make sure they enjoy coming to class, making friends, and being active.
I believe that being a good coach is about more than just teaching skills. It’s also about building connections with the kids, being someone they can trust, and making sure they feel safe and comfortable while learning. I hope to be a positive role model for my students and help them develop skills that they can use both inside and outside the gym.
I’m really excited to be part of the Tumble Kids community! I’m looking forward to meeting all the students, getting to know their personalities, and helping them learn, grow, and build their confidence. I hope to make every class a fun and memorable experience for the kids while encouraging them to always do their best!
Thank you very much! 😊
まさにNever give upの精神です。
Hello everyone! Nice to meet you.
My name is Tomoha, and I am one of the coaches at Tumble Kids.
I was a member of the gymnastics team at Kyoto University, where I practiced artistic gymnastics. Through connections I made in the team, I was given the wonderful opportunity to work here at Tumble Kids.
Although I have a gymnastics background, I actually did not start gymnastics until I entered university. I first attended a club recruitment event out of curiosity. At the time, I never imagined I could do any of the skills I saw there, but somehow I went with the flow and joined the team!
That said, I did not make the decision completely without thinking. Before university, I often hesitated to try things that seemed beyond my abilities. However, because I planned to become a teacher and earn a teaching license, I felt it was important to experience what it means to struggle with something yourself. I wanted to understand the feelings of students who think, “I can’t do it,” and I believed that challenging myself with something difficult would help me become a better educator.
That idea became a reality, for better and for worse. Even when I wanted to do something and tried my best, my body would not always respond the way I hoped. Gymnastics was far more difficult than I had imagined. However, after three and a half years as an active gymnast, I learned something very important: even things that seem impossible at first can become possible if you keep trying and never give up. It is truly the spirit of “Never give up!”
I am grateful for the opportunity to work at Tumble Kids, where I can now help children experience the same sense of learning, growth, and achievement through gymnastics. I personally understand the frustration, disappointment, and impatience that can come from not being able to do something right away. Because of those experiences, I hope to support each child with empathy, help them overcome challenges, and guide them toward moments when they can proudly say, “I’m glad I did gymnastics.”
Both English and gymnastics are still learning journeys for me, and I have much more to learn myself. I look forward to growing alongside the children and doing my very best to support them every step of the way.
Thank you for your support, and I look forward to meeting you all!
Hello! This is coach Koki, I do gymnastics at Kyoto University Gymnastics Club.
Actually, I only started gymnastics after entering university and had very little experience before that. What kinds of things could I do if I learned to move my body exactly the way I wanted? The excitement of discovering those possibilities is what inspired me to start gymnastics.
What I love most about gymnastics is that hard work always pays off. I enjoy challenging myself with new skills and seeing my abilities grow little by little through steady practice.
I hope the children will also enjoy trying a wide variety of movements without focusing too much on whether they can or cannot do something. More than anything, I want them to experience the joy of improving little by little and discovering what they are capable of.
I am still growing and learning myself. I look forward to challenging myself with new things together with all of you while having fun along the way!
Thank you, and I’m excited to meet you all!

Let’s have fun together!
Hello everyone!
Do you enjoy being active and talking with people? The ability to move your body with confidence and control is something that develops through experiences in childhood, and it is said to provide excellent stimulation for cognitive development as well. Among the many sports available, artistic gymnastics is especially valuable because many of its fundamental skills are directly connected to physical education classes in elementary school. As children improve their gymnastics abilities, they also gain confidence in themselves.
English, on the other hand, is a useful tool for communicating with people from around the world. As globalization continues to advance, English will become an even more important skill by the time today’s children grow up.
At Tumble Kids, we are uniquely able to support children’s growth in both of these areas: gymnastics and English.
I have nearly ten years of experience in artistic gymnastics, and that experience has given me the confidence of knowing that I can move my body skillfully and respond quickly to challenges. I also spent five years in Indiana, USA, where I studied Early Childhood Education at a local college while working as an Assistant Teacher in a preschool.
Through these experiences, I came to realize just how meaningful it is for children to feel the joy of saying, “I can do it!” When children recognize their own progress and achievements, it naturally inspires them to think, “I want to keep trying and do even better!” I truly believe that these small successes, built one step at a time, help create a brighter future for children.
With this belief in mind, I have been proud to work as a coach at Tumble Kids in Kyoto, helping children learn, grow, and gain confidence through gymnastics and English.
Now, my family and I are relocating to the Tokyo area, and I am excited to continue supporting the healthy growth and development of children there. My goal is to provide fun, meaningful experiences that help every child build confidence, develop new skills, and enjoy learning.
Let’s have fun together! 😊
